Northern Cardinal

Adelaide spends a significant amount of time each day staring out the window at the beautiful cardinals in our backyard. Since daddy came home last week with a cute little bird feeder, our yard has become quite a popular place in the bird world. I finally have some birds to photograph again. I love it!

Welcome Sparrow.

I'm always excited to see a species of bird I've never seen before! It is fun to come home and look online to find out what kind of bird it was. Welcome Sparrows are rather uncommon in Canberra and I'm happy to have a picture of one.

We visit Tidbinbilla yesterday and saw ten Emu. Someone once told me that they think Emu are the ugliest birds they've ever seen, but with their pretty blue necks and brown eyes I think they are lovely. :)

Namadgi National Park

Namadgi National Park is the most Northern park in the Australian Alps and is situation just 40 kilometers outside of Canberra. Yesterday we spent the afternoon exploring some of the 4WD trails. We loved the incredible wildlife and beautiful scenery. Namadgi covers over 260,000 acres and we only saw a small part of it yesterday. We plan to return soon. :)

I love gum nuts. My husband thinks it has turned into an obsession. :) Anyway, today I realized that I need to start photographing them before we leave Australia.
